YWAM Nicoya
We are a vibrant missions community with a family atmosphere in the beautiful countryside of Nicoya, in the Guanacaste province, Costa Rica. We strive to know God and make Him known in the communities that surround us and in the nations.
Our Mission
To know God and make Him known by being a permanent Christian presence and witness in the rural communities of Guanacaste.
We present the Gospel to individuals and families, disciple them in following Jesus and participating in God’s mission.
We support and teach communities toward biblical transformation and development.
We mobilise the church and Christians of Guanacaste to world missions.
Our Vision
People in Guanacaste know Jesus and actively participate in God's mission locally and globally.
ABOUT US:
Our core team consists of around 20 Costa Rican and international full-time volunteer missionaries. Each one has different responsibilities in the different ministries reaching out to the local people and communities as well as our training programs. Local and international volunteers and visiting teams are an important support for our staff and multiply the impact. Discipleship Training School students from all over the world on a journey to know God and make Him known. Our three-month Integrative Bible Course provides DTS graduates the opportunity to study the Bible in depth and to develop a mature Christian worldview.
Two of our key initiatives are to place a Bible in every home in the Guanacaste province, and to equip and send missionaries from Costa Rica to the least-reached nations of the world.
Whether you’re looking for short-term mission trips, missionary training, or opportunities to serve in Christian outreach, YWAM Nicoya offers a unique and transformative experience in the heart of Costa Rica!
LOCATION:
We are located in the countryside of the North-West Costa Rica, in a province called Guanacaste. Guanacaste is famous for its beaches, national parks and beautiful nature. Our home village is a typical rural village, surrounded by farmlands, in the central area of the Nicoya Peninsula, about 30 min from the closest town, Nicoya.
OUR STORY:
After serving with YWAM Heredia in the Central Valley of Costa Rica for many years, the Silva family was sent to pioneer a new location in Guanacaste in 2005. After four months of searching, the Lord opened the doors for a permanent ministry location in the village of Corral de Piedra.
The ministry was started in the local and surrounding communities through Kids' Club, youth meetings, English teaching, soccer ministry and ministry with teen mothers. During the early pioneer years the Silva family were the only long-term staff, therefore visiting teams and short-term volunteers have played a significant role in the growth and development of the ministry from the very beginning. Since then, little by little, God has been bringing more people with long-term commitments to join our missionary team. We started Discipleship Training Schools in 2011 and our first second-level course for DTS graduates (Integrative Bible Course) in 2025.
