Mission Trip in Costa Rica!

We invite church, high school, young adults, YWAM and family groups to join us in missions in Costa Rica!

Short-term mission trips are a help, a blessing and an encouragement for our long-term mission work.

Teams that visit us get to join in our regular ministries, seen and learn what missions in this part of the world look like and serve alongside our long-term staff team.

Team members join an intercultural and intergenerational missionary community, have the opportunity to hear the stories and testimonies, make friends with long-term missionaries, students and volunteers, getting a glimpse of life in the mission field.

We’ve seen God transform lives of youth and adults that come on mission trips! Sometimes God has to take you and your people far to speak in a new way to grow your compassion to teach you or to call you. Our prayer is that a mission trip with us would ignite sparks that set whole churches and communities on fire for God and global missions.

Mission Trip FAQs

What is a good team size?

We say 5-20 people is a good team size. We can facilitate for larger teams, but then we divide the team into smaller ministry teams.

I am interested in bringing a team, what should I do?

You can fill out the form on this page or e-mail us. We will send you an information package that you can read to find out more. We would love to organise a call to talk and answer any questions you might have. The most important step is to pray and ask God about it. If you feel to go ahead, we will ask you to fill out a registration form and we start the process to plan and schedule together.

What kinds of ministry opportunities you have for teams?

We invite visiting teams to join our vision to make God known in the rural villages of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Teams can join our ongoing outreach ministries like kids’ clubs, homeless ministry, Bible distribution, youth programs, sports ministry. You can strengthen and expand the efforts by doing a community project, school visits, support local churches or if your team has a special focus or giftings, we can see how that could best benefit the long-term efforts here. If you are interested in building a home for a family in need, your trip can be focused on Homes of Hope (add link!)

What is a normal length of a mission trip?

We receive teams from five days up to three months.

How is the food, housing and transportation organised?

Visiting teams pay a daily fee that covers their food, housing and transportation. They stay at the YWAM base, in dorm style housing. We provide three daily meals made from scratch in our own kitchen, mixing local and international dishes, with lots of fresh produce. We have a bus and vans that we use for airport pick-ups and for driving to different ministry locations.

What are team leaders and members saying?

  • "My time at YWAM Nicoya was very peaceful. I felt the presence of the Lord often. A great place to read the word and send with Jesus, wether doing ministry out in the villages or at the base. It was always beautiful and peaceful. The staff was always helpful and I made great relationships with people here."

    Sam from WA, USA.
YWAM Secondary School outreach team member.

  • YWAM Nicoya was an awesome base for our secondary school outreach. We were welcomed into base life and the staff community with open arms, and were able to serve a huge variety of ministries - from evangelism, to mercy ministries and kids + youth ministry. Our team has many testimonies of the fruit that we saw the Lord produce during our ministry here, as well as the personal relationships built with the YWAM Nicoya family!
